Hello, hello! 👋🏽
A "link in bio" has become a critical tool for creators, businesses, and influencers to direct their audience to multiple destinations on every social platform imaginable. For a long time, I relied on a Linktree profile to consolidate my links, so I'm not a hater of link in bio tools. But, since I learned how to build websites in Framer, I know there's a better way to get more value from sharing your knowledge and expertise, with your audience.
I’m gonna share with you the Linktree to landing page transformation I built from scratch and 7 reasons I believe you can get more out of a landing page than Linktree or similar "link in bio" tools.
Before: Linktree Profile
This is a personal trainer's Linktree profile. I don't like putting people on blast, so it's blurred for privacy. It has a clean list of links free guides, recipes, and affiliate links for discounts on products. It has a simple and straightforward purpose of directing their followers.
There's a few problems though:
The page is one long list of buttons that look the same. There are 20 buttons and the average viewer won't read each and every link and will lose interest quickly.
The page lacks organization, personality, and more information about the person. This helps the viewer stay more emotionally invested in you and your product or service - which builds trust.

Here's what I came up with.
After: My Custom Landing Page
After building a custom landing page, the difference was night and day. I built it using Framer, but you can use tools like Carrd, Squarespace, or even Figma. To keep the Linktree profile private, I used different images (from Unsplash) and text. Rather than a long list of buttons, this landing page now has organized sections, a short bio, a video, before and after photos that switch automatically, images that match the links description, and even a Spotify playlist. Oh, and this page's size can expand to be viewed on a tablet, and desktop. Almost forgot, I added some movement to the elements on the page as you scroll down.

Why a Landing Page Beats a Linktree Profile
1. SEO: Boost Your Discoverability
Link in bio pages are hosted on their domain (e.g., linktr.ee/yourname), which means they don’t contribute to your website’s search engine ranking. A custom landing page, hosted on your own domain (e.g., yourname.com/links), can be optimized for SEO. By including relevant keywords, meta descriptions, and alt text for images, you increase the chances of your page appearing in search results. This drives organic traffic, helping new audiences discover you beyond social media.
2. Brand Consistency: Stand Out Visually
Link in bio's templates are functional but lack uniqueness. A landing page lets you create a visually stunning, brand-aligned experience. You can use custom fonts, colors, and imagery that match your website or social media aesthetic. For example, the landing page I build can incorporates a brand signature color palette, icons, illustrations, and text styles - making it instantly recognizable. This consistency builds trust and leaves a lasting impression on visitors.
3. Build a Better Marketing Funnel
Link in bio's like Linktree is great for directing clicks, but it’s not designed for conversion. A landing page allows you to integrate marketing tools like email capture forms, pop-ups, or CTAs that guide visitors toward specific actions (e.g., signing up for training or purchasing a product). I added a simple form to the landing page which can grow your email/member list. By nurturing these leads, you can build a stronger marketing funnel that Linktree couldn’t support.

4. More Customizable: Tailor the Experience
With link in bios, you’re confined to their layout and features. A landing page offers endless customization. Want to embed a YouTube video? Add a booking calendar? Showcase a portfolio? You can do it all. I included a carousel of client results, which keeps visitors engaged longer. This flexibility lets you create a page that aligns perfectly with your goals, whether it’s driving sales, bookings, or engagement.
5. Ownership and Control
Link in bio's like Linktree is a third-party platform, which means you’re at the mercy of their policies, pricing, or potential shutdowns. A custom landing page gives you full ownership. You control the hosting, domain, and content, ensuring your links are always accessible. Plus, you avoid Linktree’s branding (like their logo on free plans), which can distract from your professional image.
6. Advanced Analytics
Most link in bio's analytics are basic, showing only click counts and some demographic data (on paid plans). A landing page integrated with tools like Google Analytics or Hotjar provides deeper insights, such as visitor behavior, bounce rates, and conversion tracking.
7. Future-Proof Scalability
As your brand grows, a landing page can evolve with you. You can add new sections, integrate e-commerce features, or even turn it into a full website. Link in bios like Linktree, on the other hand, is inherently limited to a link hub. My landing page is now the foundation for a potential blog or portfolio site, giving me room to expand without starting from scratch.
How to Get Started
Ready to ditch Linktree for a landing page? Here’s a quick guide:
Choose a Platform: Use a website builder like Carrd (affordable), Squarespace (user-friendly), or Webflow (advanced).
Design with Purpose: Prioritize mobile optimization, clear CTAs, and brand consistency. Tools like Canva can help with graphics.
Optimize for SEO: Use a custom domain, add keywords, and include meta tags.
Add Integrations: Embed forms, analytics, or scheduling tools to enhance functionality.
Test and Iterate: Monitor performance with analytics and tweak as needed.
Final Thoughts
Switching from Link in bio's like Linktree profiles to a custom landing page can be one of the best decisions you could make for your online presence. Not only does it offer SEO benefits, brand consistency, a stronger marketing funnel, and endless customization, but it also provides ownership, advanced analytics, and scalability. If you’re serious about standing out and growing your audience, a landing page is the way to go. Say goodbye to generic link hubs and hello to a professional, conversion-driven hub that’s uniquely yours.
